Before Easter, the children from Mengendamm primary school had already got to know and experience the large Ott organ during a guided tour of the organ. Now they actively helped with the dismantling – because: the organ needs to be spruced up. Every 25 years, the organ has to be cleaned to remove dust and dirt.
The pupils from class 4a removed 2 stops from the Rückpositiv and were amazed at what was revealed inside the organ.
Everyone is now eagerly awaiting a visit to the Emil Hammer organ building workshop in June to see how the pipes are cleaned. The Ott organ will then be rebuilt by Christmas and a swell will be added next year.
