Dutch National Organ Day 2026

Saturday 12 September 2026 marked National Organ Day. For the 25th time, and just as in previous years, there was a nationwide kick-off event at a location in the country with an interesting organ history. This year, it took place in Roermond. During a walk past various churches, three very different organs were played in short concerts. During the opening and closing concerts, there was also time for a wonderful short interlude: brothers Lars and Niels Golsteijn each played a piece on the Orgelkids Do-organ, designed by Wim Janssen. They convincingly demonstrated that this small organ, with two octaves and two stops, produces a superb sound and is capable of filling the space of huge St Christoffel’s Cathedral. Have a listen for yourself to the two videos below.
